HWH Leveling System
« on: December 12, 2018, 07:54:48 PM »
Am having problems with the HWH Leveling System in the 1995 Beaver Marquis.  System is Hydraulic and Air with Suspension Air Dump.  When trying to level, "not in park" light comes on.  Tested Park Switch with meter and confirmed has ground continuity when in park.  Removed Control Unit and Touch Panel and sent to HWH for repair.  No fault found and returned.  Reinstalled same with no change in problem.  What would be the next step?

Arthur,
My "knee -jerk" thought is that you are losing the Park switch ground signal between the switch and the HWH control panel. Check this at the HWH control panel with an ohm meter if you have the diagram with the cable pin outs. That said, are you sure the park signal comes from the Park switch? Seems like it must but..

Thank you Steve. Yes, I tested Park Brake Circuit with VOM at blue wire that plugs directly into HWH Control Unit.  Brake on = continuity to ground.  Brake off =  open circuit.  Do not know where this Park Brake Switch actually is located but imagine it is somewhere on the brake air line.

Arthur, long shot but if it is on a "plug"in type connection you may have a push pin or broken connection on either side of the plug, male or female.  If a circuit board it may even be a bad solder joint on the board.  Just a few thoughts.  Good luck.

Arthur,
From the service manaul for a ml23934 system (guessing this is what you have);

"If the park brake is set, check the 9000 (BLUE) wire in the 4 pin MTA plug at the panel for a ground.  If there is no ground, the 9000 (BLUE) wire or the park brake switch is the problem. If there is a ground on the 9000 (BLUE) wire, make sure that wire and the small jumper wire is pushed into the MTA connector properly. Check voltage at the panel between the 6120 (RED) wire and the 9000 (BLUE) wire while pushing the "ON" button.  If the voltage is less than 9 volts, the panel will not turn on.  Check all connections on both wires, a poor ground on the 9000 (BLUE) wire can cause low voltage for the panel.  At least +9 volts is needed to turn the panel on.
If the voltage is greater than 9 volts, replace the panel."

Thanks Steve and Jerry.  I will not be able to do anymore troubleshooting until after Holidays as am up in N.CA  and  RV is in Chula Vista CA.  I'm sure I'll have more questions.
