Chassis Service in Houston
« on: February 10, 2019, 02:41:42 PM »
Forgive me in advance if this is not the correct area for this post.  Please let me know which area is appropriate if this is not the correct one.

I'm looking for a place in the Houston area to do chassis service on my 1998 Beaver Patriot.  I'm a new owner and have no maintenance log history, so I need an oil change, coolant, chassis lube, air filter, alignment check, fuel filter, ride height check, etc. performed just to set a baseline.  Plus I'd like to have someone experienced look at the chassis (and hopefully show me some things so I can learn to do some tasks myself).  I was going to take it to DeMontrond but they won't work on coaches over 10 years old.  I'm told that other RV dealers have that same restriction due to insurance.

I'm guessing someone else in a city the size of Houston has to own a Beaver, so does anyone have a recommendation on where to go to get chassis work performed?  If not an RV dealer, how about a reputable truck center for chassis work?  Obviously cost is a factor here too.

Thanks!

Bill,
In my other life, I lived in Houston (Jersey Village) until I retired in 2003 and became a fulltimer. At that time, there were no shops in Houston that I would recommend to service your coach. However, there is a good shop just next door in San Antonio (200 miles is next door in Texas) named Iron Horse RV. They are very busy, so if you decide to use them, call ahead for an appointment.

Hi Gerald,
Thanks for the input.  I called Iron Horse RV, and they said their cutoff is the 2000 model year, so they won't work on my 1998 Patriot.

So I'm still looking in case anyone else has suggestions.

Thanks!

Worth a look:

I notice DeMontrond had several "fair" reviews.  There are a handful of firms with multiple excellent reviews in Houston.

Also, more and more I am finding better service from truck shops vs RV dealers. At least for chassis work.
