Engine Oil Viscocity Caterpillar Engines

Questions on engine oils for Caterpillar Engines. Caterpillar DEO Multigrade E-MAIL, LRG-1, API CH-4,
and API CF-4 Viscocity Grade
SAE 0W20  Ambient Temperature Minimum. -40 F,  Maximum. 50 F
SAE 0W30.                                                -40 F.                  86 F
SAE 0W40.                                                -40 F.                 104 F
SAE 5W30.                                                -22 F.                   86 F
SAE 5W40.                                                -22 F.                  104 F
SAE 10W30.                                               -  4 F.                 104 F
SAE 15W40.                                                  5 F.                 122 F

Synthetic base oils preform improved flow at very low temperatures ( in arctic conditions)
Synthetic base oils have improved oxidation stability atvery high operating temperatures
Synthetic. base oils Caterpillar does recommend extension of oil change intervals for any type of oils.
