I got a replacement from Davis Instrument and just had to drill out the center as described above.

From Larry Moore - I found this in a search of the BAC Forum:

"I found a link to a website that sells just the cup, and with a small workaround, it can be replaced for less than $20.

http://www.rvpe.com/carefree_awning_anemometer.htm

I have ordered one for myself."

I did not order one, so I cannot verify this replacement part.

The link says the replacement cups are for the Carefree Awning. Can anyone confirm that these also work with the Girard awning?

There are two types.  One with small round cups and the other with curved blades.  I bought the cups and it was the wrong one.  Had to buy the whole assembly to get the blade design.

We drove yesterday to Branson Missouri, about 100 miles, and the replacement cup spinner stayed on, no problems.  This morning I put out the awning and took my wife’s hair dryer and blew against the cups to get it spinning. The awning came back in by itself.  Appears the system works well and I saved about $150 not having to buy an entire system.
