We need to remove the jackknife sofa for reupholstering.  Has anyone done this?  How tough of a job?  Will it for through the door?

You might see if the back is removable. We bought a couch for our 5ver, and the back slipped off so it could fit thru the door. No tools, you just lift up on the back and it comes off. Worth a try.

Our Jack knife sofa fit through the door without taking it apart.  It was tight, but it fit.  Did not put it back in since the DW said it had to go!  I do believe you can disassemble it and will need to to have it recovered anyway.

Lawrence, we took our sofa apart to remove and did the same to install a new sofa. No need to remove the front window.

Once the sofa is unbolted from the floor so it can be moved out where you can get at the back, you’ll likely find that the back, like many furniture pieces I’ve dealt with, either unscrews from the base or has a semi-hidden release lever on either side that allows it to lift/slide up and off.
