Parking for the winter
« on: November 08, 2019, 04:17:18 PM »
Hi all,

So my wife and have taken a volunteer camp host job with the BLM. We will be parked all the time, the only driving we are doing is going to fill up propane probably 15 miles round trip. We are looking into having a large propane tank  placed here, so no more driving. Is it bad for the engine, transmission, tires,  etc. to just sit? If needed we can certainly take the rig for a drive once in a while. I am still years away from retirement when we can really travel.

Thanks

Jason,
Leave the engine off. Overinflate your tires a bit and protect them from the sunlight. Some recommend running them up on pieces of wood but probably not necessary if you are on a level, relatively smooth surface. I'm assuming you aren't going to be in an area with significant freezing temps.

Steve,

Thank you, we are parked here in the North Bend/Coos Bay area  of Oregon where temps are pretty mild all winter long, just lots of rain! We are parked on a nice level cement pad. Thank you for the information.
