water shutoff valves
« on: December 08, 2019, 12:23:03 AM »
On my 2001 Contessa the fresh water fill fitting on my water manifold panel has worked its way out causing me to shut water off as its pouring out.

The inner side off this shutoff valve is plastic and very flexible(squishy)

I guess it came loose and the water pressure forced it out because of it being worn out. Where do I even look for such a valve and will I have to pull the manifold panel loose to replace the fitting?

Would you happen to have a picture of the fittings? Does it have any ID info on it somewhere?

The round white piece broke off from the fitting itself. it looks as if it screwed on.

The valves on my '05 Patriot are known as "Flair it" fittings. Might be the same on your rig.

Stan,
I had a similar problem with my 00 Marquis in Gallup, NM. Found the parts at a local plumbing supply shop.

LaMonte, I had the same thing happen to me this past August only it was the kitchen cold valve.

Fred Brooks responded to my post with the replacement item information (Flair it #16910) and how to maintain the valve orientation when disassembling and replacing the valve.  Karl Welhart directed me to a local RV repair place where I bought their last four valves and then ordered an additional seven off Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Flair-it+16910&ref=nb_sb_noss_2) to replace the remaining valves.  Each valve took about 5 minutes to replace.

Here is the link to the Post. (http://beaveramb.org/forum/index.php/topic,9213.0.html)
Good Luck!

LaMonte, If you are in a bind and need to fix this really quick, most Ace hardware stores carry "Flair-it" plumbing fittings. Any 1/2" valve has the same retainer cap you are looking for. I bought a bag of caps from the manufacturer for 93 cents each because if one cracked and let go, you probably have others about to fail. Merry Christmas & Blessings, Fred

Here is a web site that carry's all of the internals for shut off valves. https://www.escousa.net/plumbing/products-plumbing-f-z/  Go down to Valves: Valve Parts-Flair It and you will find what you need. Hope this helps.
