Driving in snow
« on: December 24, 2019, 12:20:11 AM »
We have a 2000 beaver Trinidad on a magnum chassis, it has hydraulic over hydraulic brakes,  we like to take it to the ski resorts. The biggest problem I’m having beside the usual traction and heating challenges, is that when backing up the front wheels lock when the brake is applied and I lose all steering.  It has a caterpillar 3126b and an Allison 6 speed transmission. Also in drive it is not down shifting to lower gears when I try to select a lower gear to descend a steep hill.  Has anyone else had and maybe resolved these issues.  It’s our 2nd winter with this motorhome.  And any other winter camping tips would be most appreciated. Thanks Bret

Read your manual on that Allison but I believe the 3000 family tranny sees the down shift and disallows it if the speed is too high in order to protect the tranny.
Annother possibility if above isnt it would be to have Allison run any codes and CAT to check the shift points.
