Air Brake supplier 2007 Patriot
« on: May 07, 2020, 03:34:44 AM »
Does anybody know thw Make and Model of the rear (drive axle) disc brakes? Had new tires put on the drive axle today and the brake rotors are OK but I want to do some research before I need to replace them. Rear axle and rear end are Dana per the equipment list but there is no referance to the brakes (rotors, pads, calipers) themselves. The owners manual says to call Bendix if ABS codes appear but no additional information that I can find.

I believe your coach has the Dana 22060 series rear differential (same as mine) and uses the Bendix ADB22X brake hardware.

My '05 has the Bendix ESD-225 brake setup for comparison (the ADB22X model is almost the same but with some improvements). If you have the wheels off, get a photo, or better yet get the part/model number of the caliper.

Your build sheet (probably glued to the inside of one of the cabinet doors) would provide the axle model number.

Spent time doing research and have identified the correct caliper and pads. Still need help with the rotor. There are two rotors available a "splin rotor" and a "conventional rotor". Does anybody know which one was used in 2007?

For info - If you call Bendix and give them the part number on the nameplate you get no info except to be sent to another manufacturer (Halidex in this case). Apparently a very unfriendly relationship.

Do the brake pad part numbers at the bottom of the attachment match what you found? If yes, then the rotor part numbers are probably correct too.
I collected these part numbers for the ESD-225 model (2005), and the ADB22x is an upgraded model, but many times the manufacturers continue using the same basic parts throughout several upgrade cycles.

Mike, thanks for the prompt answer.   I have a Bendix caliper p/n976100 which crosses to Halidex 790-94049 (caliper) and 790-22021 (pads). There are apparently two rotors available but on your sheet I see only one which is probably more common (probably correct). There is a distributor about 2 hours away and I will head there tomorrow AM, they have the caliper and pads in stock and identified a rotor but I did not record the p/n (my bad). Plan is to get both ends of the drive axel done, think we have a reputable mechanic to do the install at my site. Hope for the best. Will post an update when the dust settles.    The drivers side caliper appears to heve "locked up" per a good RV mechanic so i want to do both sides just for insurance ($$$). Heading out soon so dont want any suprizes on the road.

Quick update;
Everything replaced today. The mechanic started yesterday afternoon but found I had purchased the incorrect rotor. Back to the parts counter last night for correct rotor. Mechanoc started at 8:00AM and wad done before noon (both sides).
The correct part numbers for my coach are:
Calipers #790-94049 (Haldex) - $1250
Pads #790-22012 (Haldex) - $150
Rotor #976030 (Bendix) - $550
Prices are per piece not per axle, labor was about 8 hours total. Would have been less had I had the correct rotor on day one. Test drive tomorrow.

Paul, is the caliper and rotor the same for the steering axle and drive axle (other than drive axle also has the spring-parking brake)?
