Post by: Scott Hinote on August 17, 2021, 03:35:51 PM
Hi everyone , I’ve been searching for information about when and how to replace my engine coolant for my caterpillar 3126 . I was told by someone in the Beaver Motorhome fan’s in Facebook about a article or maybe a post by someone . I’ve tried but can’t seem to find it . If anyone can would you please share it with me . Thanks everyone and work safe first .

Scott,
Gerald Farris' post in this thread covers your question.

It is recommended to stay with the coolant that came with you engine, in your case probably 50/50 ethylene glycol (green stuff). Some will recommend switching to ELC (Extended Life Coolant) but it has chemicals in it that can, over time, damage  seals in older engines.
There is an article in Common Problems "Diesel Coolant Systems" that will supply you with all the info you need on coolant systems and flushing/adding new coolants. To access it, log in on the BAC web site https://www.beaveramb.org/ select the Technical tab, then Common Problems.
