Title: Puck Light Supply
Post by: Dick Simonis on February 14, 2015, 03:19:26 PM
I started to replace some Halogens with a high power LED but ran into a small problem that may require replacing at least one of my puck lights.

It appears the Marquis lights are different than the ones I had in my PT thunder and are are a bit smaller internally even with the reflector removed.  I sort of forced one in but the receptacle was damaged in the process so I'm looking for a source for the lights.  These have the brass trim ring.  I'm sure I can buy them from BCS but knowing an alternate source would be helpful.

Thanks for any input.

If memory serves me correctly, Steve Huber trimmed the wires back on some LED's he put in his puck lamps because they were too long.  It can be tough getting the regular halogen bulbs inserted;  I can imagine the larger LED ones (that I've seen) would require even more finesse.

Dick,
The G4 disk type LEDs with the square leads will need trimming in length. Also it is not uncommon (~50%) that you will pop the socket out of the holder. When this happens, remove the 3 screws that hold the light fixture to the ceiling and snap the socket back in place.
