Technical Support / Re: strange settling "bump"
« Last post by Ante Peros on March 15, 2026, 03:46:45 AM »
Dear Gene and Steve,
Thanks so much for your input!!! I love this forum. I believe we have a very small leak somewhere in the hydraulic system which may be causing the bump as Gene thought but we haven't found any leaks or puddles anywhere. We have really nice, solid pads to set up on. We are pulling everything in tomorrow to head towards home - so we shall see how it all goes. Thanks again and if there are any other issues or if we find out exactly what is going on I will keep you uposted.  Ante

Technical Support / Re: Conditions for Slide Operation- Magnum Series B Chassis
« Last post by Joel Ashley on March 15, 2026, 01:42:26 AM »
This particular manufacturer preferred that we follow the “slides out first and in last” motto.  In other words, never move slides in or out unless the air system is in Travel Mode, or in theory straight up or down in relation to that;  in that configuration the wall openings are square with the slide boxes, making for less stress on mechanisms or risk to structure.

Leveling the coach, with air or hydraulics, on an off-level campsite is fine, but introduces a twisted relationship between chassis and body, leaving wall openings cattywampous.  Moving a square slide box through an off-square opening is ill-advised.  This theory has detractors and is controversial among owners, and some other manufacturers tout opposite notions.  Following manufacturer guidelines, though, is usually best, and among us has a proven record.

Technical Support / Conditions for Slide Operation- Magnum Series B Chassis
« Last post by Jack W Hannah on March 14, 2026, 11:37:56 PM »
Is it acceptable practice to operate slides on a Magnum Series B Chassis with air suspension deflated, or is it necessary to completely inflate air springs first?
I did not find any warning in the manual about this method of slide operation.
If ride height is required, please explain.

Thank you,

I ended up buying 4 rebuilt jacks from Beaver Coach Sales over 3 years.  The local hydraulics shop would not rebuild them. one  leaked then another then... should have bought all 4 at once.  Very pricey, high core charges, system still isn't working but i should have it fixed this summer.

General Hydraulics in St. Louis, Missouri rebuilt my two front jacks on my previous 2002 Beaver Patriot thunder. They took them apart and put new seals in. Did an outstanding job. You can drive your coach there or you may be able to ship your jacks to them for rebuild.

No new jacks available. The ones you have are welded together, need a special shop that would be willing to cut yours open, replace seals, then weld back together. Several years back, there were a few shops that would do this, but do not know if anyone is still repairing these. Best bet is to Google SMC leveling jack repair and see what you can find. Good luck!
