Title: Basement door removal
Post by: Mark Beavin on June 24, 2022, 09:11:38 PM
I have a 96 Monterey that need the welds to be redone on the basement doors. I have removed all the black plastic supports and removed the struts. Put the door all the way up and they still will not release from molding channel. What am I doing wrong??

Your going about it the right way be sure you removed the square plastic retainers as well as the curved once that keep the doors from slide end wise in the track .
If you've got all the retainers out then it may take a little finesse or brut force and ignorance.

Thanks Eric. I do have all the plastic holders out. It just won't unhook. Might loosen the screws on the upper trim so it will pull out a bit.

You might want to put some masking tape on the painted surfaces to protect them while your trying to get the doors off .

I just took my doors off a 2002 Beaver Monterey and found that I had to rotate the door up just a little more than horizontal with the ground and then they popped out.
