Title: Water Logged Satellite
Post by: Ron and Bette Ulshoffer on January 06, 2011, 04:48:53 PM
We have an in-motion King Dome sat. system.  It quit a few days ago so after arriving in San Diego, Ron went up on the roof to have a look.  Upon removing the dome, he discovered that there was standing water all over the bottom and the entire inside of the dome was wet.  He sponged the water out of the bottom and let it dry for a bit, and the TV came back on.  So, he dryed out the dome, checked it for any cracks, etc. but it appears to be fine.  Has anyone else had a problem like this?  If so, what did you do?

There should be small mounting blocks that the unit is mounted on, to raise it off the roof 1/2 to 3/4 inch off the roof.  Mine was mounted without these, and the water from the AC blew right into the SAT causing your problem.  If it does not have these blocks, it needs them!!    GH WALL

Unfortunately, we have not used our air conditioner for several months.  It has been "cold" during our Eastern trip, so that is not our problem.

Your water problem is probably from condensation inside the done and is normal. What is not normal is there should be some kind of drain to allow the moisture to drain out. It would probably be best to contact King Dome to get their solution. As George mentioned if it was mounted without the blocks it could be blocking the drain.
