Title: "Dry" weight for 36' 2005 Monterey Ventura IV?
Post by: Warren Sandberg on February 20, 2019, 10:24:06 PM
Anyone know the "Dry" weight for 36' 2005 Monterey Ventura IV'?  Recent trip to scales shows unloaded with full fuel, other tanks empty at 30,020 lbs (10,020 FT  20,000 RR).  Thanks.

Warren,
Since no 2 coaches are loaded the same for travel, and very few coaches were equipped the same. Therefore, there are no accurate weight numbers for all 36 foot Monterey coaches. That is why I always suggest that everyone should weigh their coach at each individual wheel location and adjust their tire air pressure on each axle by the heaviest wheel on that axle. I have seen a 1,000 lb. difference from one side of a coach to the other side on the same axle, and that is why you need to weigh each wheel location.

Warren,
A gallon of diesel fuel weighs 7.1089 lbs so a full tank (109 gal) weighs 775 lbs.

The UVW for ours, only a year younger, is 29558 lbs. Subtract Steve’s 775 =28783.  UVW (unloaded vehicle weight) is dry except for fuel and oil, etc.  Most stats except that and CCC (cargo carrying capacity) I think are in the club’s coach manuals and brochures library   https://beaveramb.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/2005-monterey.pdf       pg.22.

As Gerald said, coaches will vary even within the same year and model.  The chassis and body may be virtually the same, but installed options on any one are usually different and I imagine can add up to quite a difference on a “fully loaded” unit.

It’s possible the weight sheet for your coach is still available from Monaco Coach at REV Group, if you give them your coach serial number and/or chassis VIN number.

The advertised dry weight of a early 2004 40' Beaver Monterery Newport, based on a sticker in the rear closet, was 31,900.  They provided that by saying the cargo carrying capacity was 900 pounds on a "typical" model.   The GVWR was 32,800.  I didn't know anything about motorhomes until after I joined the BAC, so I thought that was at least good enough.   The second half of the production year, the GVWR was 35,800 because they started using a 23,000 pound rear axle.

The actual dry weight, based on weighing, was 33,000.  No other paper, placard, brochure or spec sheet provide an empty dry weight.  Beaver didn't do that then.

Sorry for being tardy in getting back to you folks.  I got sidetracked installing a new TPMS (Same as I had on the Dutch Star, so only had to do a one page refresher of instructions!).

Gerald F. I recently joined the Delaware RV group (First State Travelers) and plan to find out where they take their rigs to get a 4-corner weight.  The nearest CAT scale is approx 40 miles away, but is configured for axle weights only.

Steve H.  Thanks.  When I researched UVW for our DS, I was surprised to find that water is heavier than diesel by approx 1 pound.

Joel A.  Yes, that fits with my weight ticket at the CAT scale which included at least 100 gal of fuel.  I do have the 2005 brochure with the various weights.  Unfortunately, it does not list UVW.  However, I appreciate your sending the link as this enabled me to save the brochure .pdf to my laptop.  Good suggestion about calling REV Group for UVW.

Bill S.  Thanks for the tip of looking for a sticker in the rear closet. I have a spec sheet of equipment with model and serial numbers in the rear closet, but no sticker with what you described.
