Title: Lost Brake Lights
Post by: Ron Langdon on May 20, 2015, 11:21:18 PM
Traveling north on I-5 in Redding California in 2008 Patriot Thunder and have discovered I've lost my brake lights on coach and tow. No lights on coach when disconnected from tow. All other lights, signals, flashers, & running lights operate normally on coach. All lights, including brake lights, operate normally on tow when disconnected from coach.  Need some guidance.

Ron,
Problem is in toad wiring or cable that connects RV to toad. I'd start with cable and the receptacles it plugs into and verify that all wires are positively connected to the proper terminals.

You might stop by Safari RV, just north of Redding on the East side of the freeway.  Bill Huff is the manager and he might be able to trouble shoot for you.  Take the Pine Grove exit and double back down to the right on Twin View Blvd.  There is room to park your coach and toad on the side of the street next to the freeway.  Two doors south of Safari is Cousin Gary's RV if Bill is unable to assist you.

Ron,
We had the same problem on 2008 Contessa.  It was a fuse in front electrical bay.  Don't remember what it was labeled, but hard to find the first time.  Checked all fuses until found.

Mike and Chuck! Thanks for your inputs. I tried Mike's solution first since it is Friday afternoon before a three day holiday, and it was the answer. I replaced the fuse which in my case is located in the back electrical bay, passenger side , not the bay in front of left front wheel. All lights working. Thanks again to you both.
