Laura and I are in the Four Corners, Mancos Colorado until April 21. We are planning on picking up US 50 in Utah and continuing across Nevada to Reno, then on I80 to Truckee CA. Can anyone enlighten us on US 50, such as rest stops, fuel, condition of road, etc. There are other routes, however we want to give "The Loneliest Road" a try.

Can't recall too much about it, but we did the road ~3 years ago. It's not a big deal. We went from west to east and the climb out of Austin NV (I think?) is significant, but not something all that difficult to deal with. We stayed that night at the KOA in Ely. The hype is more than the road is worth.

I haven't driven US 50 in NV but the rest stop app on my phone shows only 1, near Eureka.

We have been on US 50 in the Fallon area. We drove East from Fallon about 10 miles to see an archeological site which is located straight East of the airport. That airport is also the Top Gun home for training fighter pilots - Air Force I believe (It is a Naval Air Station--modified by Roy Warren). Anyways, US 50 between Fallon and Ely is about 260 miles of "nothing." It is known as the "Loneliest Road in the World" with virtually no towns, no fuel stops, no services, etc. AAA says it is a road fit for survivalists. The part of the road we saw - only 10 miles - was pretty straight with pull offs every now and then. Make sure you leave with enough fuel to get the whole way - 260 miles. If you break down you could be waiting for hours for help. Was that scary enough?
Fallon has several RV parks. The park we have always used is located at the Super 8 Hotel and Bonanza Casino. It has mostly 30 amp hookups with two 50 amp spots. Each spot has sewer and water, and the cost is only $15 per night. We have no problem getting in and out of the RV park, but we always approach the park from the East side on West 1st Street. West 1st Street drives right into the RV park through a residential area only 1 block South of the main drag... the main drag being US 50 going East and West.

Fallon is a nice little town, I had a few of our customers there including NAS Fallon which is all Navy no Air Force. And yes Hwy 50 east is the highway to hell, zero,zilch nothing out there, did it once in my truck never again would take I 80 to Salt Lake and then back down I 25.

The choice of roads is a personal thing. In the last 15 years, I have been across 50 7 times. I prefer not to use interstates as they tend to be sterile and crowded. And how else can one see GEMS such as Great Basin National Park and Lehman Cave?
