Title: Pre-Heating Engine Using Hydro Hot

Greetings ALL ....

Who is ready for Spring and nice warm weather???? Calling for snow tonight, low of 22, high tomorrow of 34,
AND WE LIVE IN NORTH GEORGIA!!!!

My 06 Monterey is stored under a metal roof outside at a storage facility. We keep it plugged in to the only power available .... a 110 outlet.

Can I turn on the diesel and engine preheat switches on the Hydro Hot to preheat the engine for a couple of hours when only being plugged in to 110????

Jay,
I'm far from a HH expert but I think you'll be OK if you use the diesel and not the electric option. I wouldn't have anything else electrical  running in the coach.

Jay, we live in Michigan and have done this many times with no problem.  In fact, we frequently will turn on the thermostat to warm up the coach at the same time.  The H.H. pumps draw relatively little current.

Jay I have the Aqua Hot system and will run this on fuel only with no problem , I think your system will be the same operation.

Jay, I keep mine in a metal barn and when the forecast is for temp below 28 I turn on the electric and set the T-stats for 50.  Works great.  I don't turn on the engine preheat unless I plan to start the engine.  I'm not certain that the electric heater has enough power to heat the coach and the engine.

Unless the OP is planning in taking a trip in snowy ~20 degree weather I'm totally puzzled as to why he wants to preheat his engine.  The engine sure doesn't mind sitting in the cold and 22F is not cold enough to matter anyhow.  That engine would be fine starting at those temperatures without assistance.
