Title: Bedroom bed slide hydraulic hose access help needed
Post by: Neal E Weinmann on December 10, 2019, 01:19:26 AM
‘05 Monterey Bayview IV. Hydraulic system for slides developed a system leak under bed slide (driver’s side rear). Puked out all the system fluid, wetting down the back forward edge of the radiator and all of the pipes and hoses in that forward area of the engine bay. The failed hose disappears up above the top of the radiator’s “plenum” box, making it seemingly inaccessible without dropping the radiator and associated elements in the area. Is that my fate?

Looking for any helpful guidance/experience with getting to this little troublemaker. Thanks, folks!

Neal,
Generally the approach to bad hydraulic hoses is to run a new hose through any accessible routing path. Since the originals were often installed when the chassis was assembled, access to the original routing is next to impossible.

Hi Neal
This is never an easy job but I have had decent luck using a connector to connect the new hose to the old and pulling the new one through . This usually requires removing trim inside the coach to access the cylinder and connections .
On another note if you're coach is sporting HWH hydraulic slides there was a problem with their noses in and around 2002 it was officially a sub contractor who make the hoses for HWH but those hoses had a plastic cover and where lettered with HWH on them but unfortunately the machine that put the lettering on the hose had a factory wheel which left the hoses with a series of pin hose running the length of the hose. It some times took several years for the hoses to develop a leak .

Replacement of slide hoses is never easy
Good luck
Eric
