we have an SCS coach step on our 06 Beaver Monteray , it clicks going out, then clicks coming in. I tried to look on the forum, couldn't find it.
Are parts available? How hard is it to work on? The step itself is still good.

Dale,
It is repairable. Suggest you access the Entry Step Problems article in Common Problems in the Private Members Only board for guidance.

Thank you Steve, After reading, do you feel it might be more electrical then gears, I will look Friday.
-
Dale,
Could be either. First thing I'd do is lube the step assy.

Yes Steve. We were up on the Oregon coast in rain etc. I have lube with silicone, I'm thinking it's electrical, I'll start there Friday. Thank you.

Kwikee, SCS are both owned by Lippert Components now.
Here is a link to their parts store.

Thank you. The tech at lippert was very good. I have it narrowed down to the motor, I feel I can handle that.

I just replaced the motor and controller on my steps. Lippert has a store on Amazon as well. The prices appear better on Amazon than the link above.

My motor was marked 300-1406. you can also get one from NOVOPARTS store on Amazon.

I thought that I would buy the motor from Lippert and it would bolt on without issues but when I received it I found that the bolt holes were too small. The bolts on my steps were 1/4" and the holes on the new motor were 7/32. luckily I had a drill press and sharp 1/4 drill. After drilling out the holes it bolted right on. I used some waterproof grease on the motor pinion and the 1/4 round rack with teeth. I used some spray brake cleaner to clean the step slides and then sprayed Kwickee lube on the slides.

In hindsight I should have went with the NOVOPARTS motor and saved $70. I had to modify the Lippert one anyway.
TIP: There are 6 spacers that you need to sandwich above and below the motor to get the motor to line up with the 1/4 round rack. I used some silicone RTV to glue them in place prior to installation. It helped defy gravity while you try to start the bolts into the threads.

Thank you, motor will be here next Friday, leaving for a week, hope it holds up till then.

I remember doing the same. As I recall, I used a glue of some kind as well.
