Title: C12 Turbo Boost Question
Post by: steve zannella on January 31, 2015, 09:55:41 PM
I recently noticed my turbo boost jumps around a lot when climbing grades. The Alladin read out bounces from 20 to 38 pressure when holding throttle steady. Is this normal? I'm not concerned about power as the coach seems to pull without hesitation.

No your boost pressure should not be jumping around, sounds like a bad connection.

Or a bad sensor, the boost when the turbo spins up is somewhat of a slow responder pressure wise.

Steve,
Lee and Ed are right when they are stating that your problem is electrical and not mechanical. The way that the engine intake is designed, it makes it almost impossible for the boost pressure to jump back and forth between 20 PSI and 38 PSI. If it is not something obvious like a corroded connection at the sensor, you will probably need to take it to Cat for a diagnosis.

Thanks, I'll take the coach to a service center and have them locate the electrical problem.
