On the solar panel does anyone know what controls it and where the wire from the roof goes ?

My memory fades, but on our coach, the solar wire from the 100w panel goes from the panel down the refrigerator vent then to the curbside 'hidden' bay just ahead of the drive axle to the solar controller. The wire from the solar controller terminates in the electrical box above the battery tray. That one panel is only good for about 5 amps in full sun, so it won't do much to charge your batteries. If you want good info on solar look up AM Solar in Springfield Or.

The solar controller is mounted to the wall of the basement compartment just forward of the passenger side drive wheels. This is the compartment that houses the grey/black tanks.

Paul,

I believe that is the thermostat for the water/tank bay. You can clip it on the water line that runs by in your picture, or you can just let it hang there. It controls the heat register for your basement Aqua Hot zone. Hope this helps.

As Frank explained, it doesn’t need to be fastened unless it’s hanging such that it swings subject to harm.  Just leave it as is or clip it to a wire or clamp, but I’d advise not where it picks up unrepresentative localized heat or cold from a warm hose or something.
