Title: tv motor hums
Post by: George Frudakis on March 18, 2019, 11:44:19 PM
When I press the switch for the tv to drop down and it starts and goes all the way to the viewing position.
Then the round motor left side toward the rear, I assume it ts the drive motor to lower and raise the tv from the open position to close in the ceiling, Starts to hum, loudly, and then the motor gets really hot. If I let it just hum the motor will not raise the tv to close position. If I press the switch to close then press the switch to open after a few time it stops humming. After the tv has been on for some time, and no humming it will just state to hum loud. am assuming I need a new open and close switch. I hope its that simple.

Give Lift my TV a call, I assume yours is the same as with my 06 PT, they are super helpful, it sounds like your controller might be shot, but they will be able to help you.

My TV lift has "travel limit" adjustment screws. If your TV lift is the same, you can try to adjust the stop position. Maybe the TV motor is continuing to run because the stop/closed limit adjustment is out of adjustment and the TV is still trying to close (the motor hum). The full troubleshooting guide is in the Coach-Links section.
The guide says for 2004 up, so I'm not sure if this is the lift mechanism you have - but whatever type you have, look for adjustment for the closed position.
Good luck

I had issues with mine on 03 PT a couple of years ago.  It is not the same as the 04 and above.  The company still has an active phone number that they do not answer and never returned calls.  The only manuals I could find were for the 04 and up model.  My problem was in the limit switches.  It turned out that I caused my own problem trying to quiet the TV bouncing as we traveled.  Anyway good luck.
