Title: Unexpected hot water
Post by: Lawrence Tarnoff on May 20, 2018, 11:33:16 PM
We have Aqua Hot heat and hot water system.  On our chilly 3 hour drive today I ran the roof heat pump off the generator.  Did not turn on the Aqua Hot.  When I ran the sink to wash my hands, I was very surprised to get hot water.  Any ideas why?

Lawrence, the Aqua Hot has a loop from the engine coolant running thru it. That's the nice thing about the system, three sources of heat, engine heat, diesel burner heat and electric element heat. I have found that after a days drive the water is still hot the next morning without the use of the diesel burner or the electric element.

Lawrence,
Frank is correct. You Aqua Hot system will heat the coach while driving without the diesel burner running. You just turn on the heating system and the Aqua Hot system will heat the coach using heat from the engine cooling system.

If you're driving and it's chilly outside, then turn on your dash heat.  If the dash heat doesn't make you warm, then turn on your zone furnace/s, one or all of them, to heat the coach.  There's no need to run the generator to furnish power for the heat pumps while driving.  That's burning diesel unnecessarily, but it's your pocketbook.
