Title: Dash gauge failure again!
Post by: Kevin Heusinger on March 07, 2021, 06:25:13 PM
I recently replaced my speedometer head on my 2009 contessa milan. It was causing all dash gauges to malfunction. Purchased new head and all was fine until all of a sudden it failed again! I'm getting the "no data"  display on the head screen again! At this point I'm totally frustrated! Any suggestions? Now the gauges come and go with the coach sitting still and sometimes while they're working the two air gauges will alternate working and going dead. I've had the ECM on the engine replaced before any of this started happening.

Kevin, the likely reason no one has answered is 2009 was the last year for Beaver.  Two were made in 2010 but were late 09s.  Not a bunch of info  in the forum library on these.
Have you tried looking at the wiring schematic for 2008 in the library?  Could this be a dash ground issue?
I am sure someone with better experience will help soon.

Kevin, Your coach is the same format and engineering as a Monaco Signature with a Kongsberg multiplexing system for the dashboard and chassis wiring. From what I remember of the training that Monaco offered technicians back in 2008, the system in the dash has masters and slaves for the gauges and the switches. Perhaps someone out there still has a schematic of how it is configured? Kongsberg is not participating in any support and seems to be resentful over the Monaco relationship. Like everything else back in 2008 to 2010 all the manufacturers and vendors went out of business and there was a lot lost revenue. Hope this helps, Fred

All,
Coach Assist has the wiring diagrams for the 09 Marquis w/ Kongsberg.

Now the gauges come and go with the engine running and the coach sitting still. When they are working sometimes the two air gauges will alternately quit then come back. Very strange. Before ANY of this started happening I had the ECM replaced at caterpillar.

Kevin,
To the best of my knowledge, the air gauges are not an ECM readout.

Kevin, The common denominator may be a ground connection because you are having multiple failures at the same time. Unfortunately there is no Kongsberg print in the wiring diagrams. If the ECM replacement is the contributing factor, call the dealer and inquire where the ground feed interfaces with the ECM that feeds the dash board. In the mean time, on page 11 of the prints, there are 60 ground wires on the right side you could check. On page 99 it shows the feed to the front run pcb (printed circuit board) check the feed for ground. On page 114 it shows another ground connection worth checking. Hope this helps, Fred

Kevin,
Check out the Medallion Electronic Dash service manuals just loaded to Coach Assist. They contain troubleshooting sections. I was mistaken on my earlier comment regarding the air gauges. They are monitored by the Medallion system.
