Why do we not have a color backup camera?? I had one on my 2000 PT but not on the 2002 Marquis.
Is there a good reason for this?? The Alpine radio screen seems to be capable of displaying in color.

Dick,
"We do" in a 1999 Beaver Marquis even after upgrading. :)

My backup camera transmits a color picture to both my Aladdin and Silverleaf screens. But the left and right cameras hanging on the bottom of the rearview mirrors transmit in black & white to both the Aladdin and Silverleaf screens.

Dick, I am certain that you do have a color camera and monitor. Perhaps the Alpine is set to B&W.
The monitor should go back to factory settings if you shut it off and re start it. The power button should be one of those little buttons on the left side or just left of middle but close to the top.
Warning !!
The flip up screen can get sticky. It should retract all the way into the unit but if it hangs up just light presure to help it complete the cycle and a couple Q-tips with WD40 on the track while its open. Remember to use the arrow buttons for the tilt feature. From what I have read the tilt is the first thing to go. After a good cleaning ours works well.
There is also a 'fctn' button that changes camera angles. On ours this is the tiny button along the bottom edge and furthest right. When we lost our picture I tried to shut it down. With a complete restart it finaly came back.
Hope this helps

Dick,
Your coach was equipped with a color back-up camera and monitor when it was new. Either someone changed the camera to a B/W or you have a setting issue and/or malfunctioning equipment.

Thanks guys. The radio was defective..screen tilt mechanism issue when I got the coach and BCS replaced it with a new one. Never thought to check the manual for settings so I'll do that today.

Dick,
My 2002 Marquis has the same set up and it would be easy to call the display black and white because the color rendition of either the display or camera is subtle. That being said I have never gone in to try to adjust any settings. If you find that display adjustments make a difference let us all know. If you look closely with a bright color in the camera view area do you get any color rendition at all? It takes that kind of color to notice the difference in my case.

Ed, that sounds like a settings issue. The color on ours is great, looks like a mini TV.

Thanks, I will take a peek when I am out there.

Ed,
I had very little color rendition in the last few years before my back-up camera failed completely. However, after replacing the camera, the color is back to what is was 12 years ago when I bought the coach.

Ed,
I had the same experience as Gerald with my camera in the Marquis. Yours may be getting tired.

Thanks For Your Observations,
It may be getting older like I am:-) Brightness and image are fine, just weak color. Not really much of an issue with me for now....

Ed,
I installed this one as a replacement for the OEM unit and it worked great. Heck of a buy for less than $30.

My coach's previous owner had replaced the camera (when it died) with a B&W one because it provided a better picture in low light level situations. Frankly, for the purpose it serves a black and white picture is just fine with me.
