Title: keyless entry
Post by: Keith Moffett on March 06, 2015, 12:17:15 AM
Our coach has been sitting all winter.  Went to use the key fob to unlock the entry door and it will not unlock nor relock without the key.  Is this more likely a sticky latch or an electronic problem?
Thanks
Keith

Keith,
The odds are very high that your problem is not just a sticky latch.

Likely a dead key fob battery.

Or dead chassis batteries. Had the same problem a while back and my chassis batteries were dead. Once charged problem solved.

Should have included in the original post that the bay door locks work fine.
Thanks for the input

Keith,
I had the same problem after sitting for a a couple of weeks and it acted like there wasn't enough power to open the door with the key fob. Check the chassis batteries and they were at 8.9v!! I've had a slow charger on for a little over two days and they are still not up to full charge but the key fob now works. I think I have a problem with the 'BIRD' or the battery isolator solenoid as I have been plugged into 30 amp power when this happened. (I'm not using the motorhome enough! :)

Thanks Dean, will give that a look.

Checked the batteries.  Connections look good if not great but no corrosion.  The house and chassis batteries are all at 13.9 volts so the charger is working as is the bird system.
The bay door locks work if a little sluggishly but the entry door remote lock doesn't work at all.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Keith

Had and still do a similar problem on my 06 Thunder power was out batteries were dead once charged the keypad locks the Coach but can't open the Coach with the pad have to use the fob which opens the front doors but not the bay doors so I am thinking the key pad must need to be reprogrammed

Talked with Ken Carpenter today and reprograming is an option but to try the contacts on the hinge side of the door (two brass pins).  Make sure they are clean and not bent or disturbed in some way as this would affect the lock.
