Title: 2001 Marquis brake parts
Post by: Frank Bergamo on August 15, 2016, 07:16:17 PM
Was wondering where I can locate springs for Meritor brake caliper. I need 12 springs and also need to locate some clay based grease. Have located rotors and linings, but am having trouble locating springs and grease. Thanks for any help on these matters.

Frank,

This place stocks the Meritor Clay based grease and I think would have a way to ship it to you. I have only dealt with them locally. Might be a source for the springs, not sure.

Frank,
I bought the caliper return springs and the rest of my brake parts (except grease) from Fleet Pride Truck Parts in Phoenix. They were in stock. Fleet Pride is a national chain and they may have a location near you.

I bought a case of clay based grease from an oil field lubrication specially supplier when I lived in Houston years ago, so I have no needed any more yet. If needed, I can dig up their name.

In case anyone else needs the part numbers for the Marquis Meritor ADB brake system, they are below.

Meritor brake part numbers for 2000 Marquis
Rotors;            3218K  167
Pads;               S2R7017173
Helper springs; Kit 15018

Ed, Gerald, thanks for reply on brake parts. Located grease and springs through local International dealer. Gerald, PN I have for pads is ROC Kit15625PM. This is different from PN that you listed. Wondering if different brand has different PN. I have 2002 Marquis. Not sure if brake setup is the same as 2000 Marquis. Please clarify. Thanks, Frank.

Frank,
The brake pads are the same on the 2000 and 2002 models. The Meritor part number that I listed was for one wheel (2 pads) for applications with high operating temperatures and the part number that you listed was for 2 wheels (4 pads) for applications with normal operating temperatures.

Gerald I see you referenced the extreme service pads. I am shopping for pads and seen the HD pads. They are roughly twice the price, but with labor and peace of mind it may be worth it. Is that what you use and recomend?

Michael,
Personally I use the high temperature (extreme service) pads. They are a little harder on the rotors, but I think that they are a better pad. I do not necessarily recommend one pad over the other. You should read the specs, and decide which ones suit your needs.
