Title: Onan won't start Code 19

Hello all,

My 7.5 HDKAJ Diesel generator decided to stop and stay stopped!

I was getting a click after the fuel pump stopped but now - nothing, When pressing the start switch, the pump runs then stops and nothing.

There seems like a relay or solenoid that I don't know of has quit. Does anyone know of the electrical issues of this generator? Where I could find the solenoid or relay if one exists

If not that then the internal of the genny may be the cause of the issue????

I checked the starter and it works fine when I jump it from the battery power.

I have a generator mechanic coming to check this in a few days ( I think) so maybe some future info is on the way.

Sure hope someone here can help me out..............

Try a Google Search using "7.5 HDKAJ Diesel generator code 19" as the search argument.  There will be several links there to be read.  One link, in particular, goes to the irv2.com forum and has a description of the possible issues and the fellow posing the problem fixed it himself... something about a connection to the engine's speed governor harness was his problem.

Thank You

I have read the iRV thread and have been told the governor might be suspect. This line of attempted repair has not gotten me to a solution.
My best line to focus on seems to be a relay or solenoid in between the start switch and the starter.

I appreciate your help.

Hi everyone

The mechanic just left

The code 19 is a bad governor after checking with a few meters.

My latest question is: Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on swapping the governor?
There are a few tricks that I was told about but the concern is the spring at the bottom of the rotor that connects to the injector pump might be tricky.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A final thought on Code 19 when looking to swap out the stator

Clean the stator connection to ground , re-assemble and try before you buy a new stator

Had I done that , I might have saved myself the $150 and 1.5 week wait for the part along with first finding the part.
