Title: SafeRideRV Motor Club
Post by: Joel Ashley on April 06, 2021, 12:30:55 AM
I've touted CoachNet many times here, but our five year subscription is about to run out, and their rates have gone way up.  Though it's been 14 years since we gave up AAA when we got the coach in 2006 and went to Coach-Net, we've had only two occasions to use it;  a 10 mile coach towing in 2007, and a flat tire on our pickup while our grandson had borrowed it overnight.

Given that Coach-Net appears to now be the most expensive roadside services company out there, and does no longer offer a 5 year discount option, but just a 3 year one that's not that much of a discount, it appears to be time to consider other companies.  As many of you do, we use Ron Jarvi's Overland Insurance agency in Arizona.  At one time he offered Coach-Net as a discounted feature, but some years back stopped doing so.  He now proffers SafeRideRV Motor Club instead, and a 5 year subscription at $400 is $209 less than Coach-Net's 3 year deal.

But I don't know anything about SafeRideRV, nor do I recall it being discussed on this Forum.  So, although I'm sure I'll hear about them despite my entreaty, I'm asking NOT necessarily for members' evaluations of Coach-Net, FMCA's roadside program, AARP's, AAA, Good Sam's, or other insurance carrier's offerings, but rather just those who've subscribed to and used it - their opinions of SafeRideRV.

Appreciating any SafeRideRV insights,
Joel

Joel, I clicked on SafeRideRV and was taken to the FMCA roadside assistance website, $159/yr.

Then there is this site

https://saferide.vehicleadminservices.com/about-us/

No info on rates! Or how to sign up. Both sites are attributed to "VehicleAdministrativeServices" whatever that is, according to fine print at the bottom of the page.

And on the Better Business Bureau website I find this:

Terrible customer service. Phone calls not returned. E-mail not responded to. Emergency service was timely, unfortunately our dispatcher was not well informed regarding towing our Tiffin Phaeton to an appropriate service center. Have tried unsuccessfully to contact SafeRide to find out how to file a claim for my tow bill. Would not recommend this company to anyone!

Bill, I’m not sure SafeRide or SafeRideRV offer direct to public product.  It looks like they contract with companies to offer themselves as part of the companies’ features.  Thus, Overland Insurance offers it, and I believe other venues like Escapees and some insurance companies do.  Regular auto insurance companies and businesses whose employees travel by car a lot would contract with their plain SafeRide unit, as opposed to recreational vehicle related businesses that would contract with SafeRideRV instead.

From some I’ve read it would appear that they may be the backer behind FMCA’s roadside assistance also.  The prices offered would therefore depend on the contract negotiations with each company or organization.  The Overland rate at 5 years for $400 isn’t too bad.  The FMCA price I saw was $75/yr, but was not particularly current... I’ll have to check up on that.

As far as reviews, SafeRide whether FMCA, Escapees, or other representation, seems to have both good and bad -  a lot depends on the specific service entity they can get to you and where you are at the time of breakdown.  I will note that Good Sam seems to elicit the most bad stories.

My $75 FMCA price must've been pretty old... it's now $159.  And yes, FMCA's is provided by SafeRideRV also.  So it would appear Overland's existing customer price at $80 ($400 for 5 years), for what appears to be essentially the same product, is virtually half the FMCA price.  Even Overland's one year price ($100) is 30% less.

Ron said SafeRideRV was started by the original owners of Coach-Net, and Coach-Net's recent ownership has pulled a bit away from the original company intent of service and value.  It's one reason Overland dropped it.
