If your house batteries are low, DO NOT charge them using a running coach engine and its alternator. Use either a portable charger or start the generator (using a jumper from a battery if it won't start due to low batteries) to charge up the two coach banks of batteries.

Especially if the house batteries are low, DO NOT use the coach engine and its alternator to charge them up.  The demand on the engine's alternator will cause the alternator to overheat and blow a diode(?) leaving the alternator dead.  Replacing the alternator will cost several hundred dollars.  Been there, done that!  I have heard recommendations for allowing the generator to run to charge for 30 to 60 minutes before starting the coach's engine.

Inverter/charger may not be kicking in due to low voltage in batteries. Have you checked the battery voltage? If low, try a remote charger on the batteries to bring them up and then try the inverter/charger again. Hope this helps. Good luck.

1993 Beaver Grand Marquis  Just returned from annual service check where the coach sat for 8 days without shore power.  Drove it 20 minutes to get it home, when I plugged it into shore power, 000 AC Voltage from the inverter. All other AD & DC Voltages normal.  The Heart battery status Panel display showed Red  shutdown, Red High Temp, Green AC input, Blank AC Output Power On.  All AC & DC Breakers OK.  Reset system with switch on inverter, No Help.  Removed positive cable from House batteries and opened 30 Amp Leg A CONV Breaker and reset both.  No Help.
Neither Shore power nor the Generator will charge house batteries.  Boost start does work.  The real pain, is only a single outlet inside and one in the basement are powered, with the up coming Int'l Rally in Amana it would be an advantage to at least getting the outlets powered as a temp fix.  Bill Dowden & Chuck Jackson have been of great help, but still seeking advice from all.  Thanks  Rick Mayer  6053210966

Thanks everyone. So I've done a test the last couple nights. I leveled using the air system and them immediately turned off the chassis power - we've stayed level. I don't understand the intricacies of the leveling system and have no clue what this is telling me, but would like to sort it out. We have an appointment at Beaver Coach here in Bend tomorrow, but its less critical now since we have a short-term work-around.

Jeff,
My guess is that the hydraulic fan clutch is not kicking the fan into high speed mode when hill climbing. More info may be in your C13 engine manual or a call/visit to a CAT shop may provide more info. You may also be able to check the fan operation by idling the engine. The fan should be running at low speed. Then block the radiator with a piece of cardboard, etc and as the engine temp increases the fan speed should increase.
All that said, it also may be that your fan is stuck in high speed mode. That would explain the lower temp readings climbing hills. But then it's not clear why it throws the code.

Good to hear I am not the only one who braves the unknown.
It took me another guy 5hrs of physical labor to get the beast out.
I believe there is a sequence to taking it in and out.(hind site). There is a air cooler, fan shroud with fan and motor, all bolted to radiator together, luckily I had a forklift to lower it down and out the bottom, as we took it down all in one piece. After examining it I think it will be going back in 2 pieces, maybe 3 rather than one. Brought it to a shop  'Cookeville Radiator' in Cookville TN. The shop has been there since 1935 , they will be calling me with a cost to re-core, he was guessing around a thousand $. He is also is pressure testing the air cooler.
Good I had a young guy helping me, as these old bones don't bend like they used to.
If anyone else has some additional advice on it going back together I'm all ears (or eyes ?)

My 2006 Beaver Patriot Thunder with C-13 engine is throwing an error code when I climb hills. The code I pulled with SID 33 Fan Clutch Output Device. I have a side radiator with a hydraulic cooling fan. My motor doesn't come close to running hot so I'm not concerned about overheating, but I would like to solve this check engine issue.  Thanks for any guidance.

Bill,
It's also possible that your Valid controller (under control pad) has failed since the issue occurs with both air and hydraulics. Ours failed on our 07 Contessa in 2023 for no apparent reason. You can call them and they will walk you through a diagnosis procedure. Valid got ~$550 at that time. :(

Thanks Eric for the suggestions. Unfortunately the slope of the pad that we're on required the rear bags to be totally deflated when leveled out. We'll try and find an area on our way north to attempt to find the leak. Thanks again.
