It appears the little plastic gear inside the electric cord wheel snapped today. I found some old posts on FMCA where a member of FMCA called: backhoeJ had a bother that made a replacement gear and he was able to sell them for about $25.00. FMCA has removed the post (2012). I understand that Shore Line is out of business. Does anyone know where I can either contact backhoeJ or where I can find that little plastic sprocket without buying a new reel?
This is in the bay of 2005 Beaver Monterey Laguna IV

Our cord reel lost ground contact and needed replacement in 2015. I may still have the pieces (contacts not repairable) and I mean pieces. My problem is it's in California and we're in Washington. We wil not be going down there until October. I have other problems and they are remembering exactly where it is in the storage shed and remembering I wrote this come October. If you still need the gear come October like around the 10th call me @707-217-0903 and remind me I wrote this.

Thanks! I will keep this in mind if no other solution comes about. There is apparently a little gear between two big gears on the right side of the reel in the square riveted box. I have not opened it yet but everything I have read indicates, when I do, it will be that small plastic gear.

Leon, If you do open Pandora's box, you might want to check here for a replacement gear

Leon:
Is this replacement Shoreline electrical cord reel gear that you were looking for?

But just saw that this item is no longer available....
Also, this is a copy/paste from another site... Might be worth trying to contact BackhoeJ..

Jim, still could use some gears for the cord reel. Have you established your California return date yet.
