Title: 2002 Patriot Unknown Fluid Leak - Driver's Side Exterior
Post by: Jack W Hannah on January 22, 2023, 09:29:01 PM
My 2002 Patriot developed a strange, brown, fluid leak on the exterior wall about a year & 1/2 ago that is getting worse w/time. My Hydraulic resevoir remains full. Any ideas what could the source of this leak? The dried residue from this leak doesn't feel sticky to the touch. The most recent leak is emanating from the frame of the frame of the  sewer hoses storage and forming a small puddle on the top of my Hydro-Hot exhaust.  I've tried to attached a few of my "resized" pictures but so far no luck as far as I can tell.  :-(

Anybody have any suggestions on where to look?

Thank you.

Jack,
The "puddle" looks like possibly rusty water. If so, suggest you check the sink connections in the slide and the  water connections on the water bay. Since it appears rusty it's apparently collecting somewhere. Alternately it could be fluid left in the sewer hoses or storage area. Where did you see it on the coach side?

See attached pic of Sewer hose storage door. Also along piano hinge of water service bay door and trailing edge of LR slide.

On my 2002 Marquis the puddle is not rusty but in a similar location.  There is a leak under the sink behind the rear wall of the under sink storage.  The water is running out of the coach down the gas line for the stove, collecting on top of the storage bay and then running out close to where your first picture indicates.  Accessing the leaking hose requires major disassembly of the under sink area.  Hopefully on Monday!  Not something these knees can handle.

Jack,
A Forum member contacted me with another and maybe more likely possible cause. He found that he had a leak at the roof to sidewall joint. The water would seep down inside the wall between the fiberglass skin and the outer wood liner. The "discharge" looked like dirty brown water very similar to yours due to the inner wall glue dissolving to some extent. He fixed it by applying Eterna-bond tape to the joint at the roof/sidewall.
Thanks George Harwell!
