I have a 2001 Beaver Marquis Amethyst that I am thinking about selling. It's an awesome coach with 76,000 miles on a caterpillar C12. It's in very good condition. My cell # is 573-760-6960. Anyone interested may call or text. I'm in Missouri. Thanks Vernon

Technical Support / Re: Dimmer switch for PacBrake?

Steve, that's great info. I hadn't thought about the difference between the brake lights being activated from the PacBrake and the physical brake pedal. I understand the logic of wiring the toad's brake to the brake switch. I haven't purchased a toad yet. I'm looking for a low mile HHR. I'm not in a hurry. I'm sure I'll find one in my area. Thanks

Depending on how your toad brake is wired and operates, it may be applied when your pac/jake brake is activated. Normally this isn't an issue unless you are going down long slopes such as in mountain driving. Then your toad may be trying to slow your coach. I rewired mine so the toad brakes would only activate when I applied the coach brakes. I picked up the brake signal at the brake pedal rather than at the brake lights (which are also triggered by pac/jake brake) and installed a bridge to block the brake light signal from feeding back to the brake pedal.

I finally got around to installing the dimmer switch. It works fantastically. Because it's wired in parallel with the factory rocker switch, the dash light shows when the switch is engaged. I've added a floor-mounted dimmer switch in my vehicles to control aux driving lights for years. It's easier than searching for a dash switch.

Scott, what parts are you looking for?
The part # on coach net may fit something but did not help me.

It is helpful to know your model and year of coach.  This info can be included with your signature info.
We too leave ours plugged into 50 amp so it remains charged.  Some people will make periodic trips to the coach to charge the batteries but that is not always possible.  Since we winter in the PNW we have heaters on so need power anyway and are blessed to be able to park our coach at our home.

We too run our genset once AM and once PM but we have the electric refer so we cool it down and charge up the batteries depending on the weather.  If we run high draw like roof air etc the generator is on.
Much of your question depends on the age and type of your batteries.
We also keep battery powered lights around so when boondocking we dont run internal lights much.  When running the generator we make sure to plug in any rechargeable lights because the generator is going to recharge those too without a  problem.
One suggestion might be your fridge.  How are the seals?  If you take a dollar bill and lay it under the seal and close the door then can drag it out too easily then your seals are leaking causing your fridge to run more.  I have had success by warming the seals with a hair dryer and pulling them out slightly but it is only a temporary fix.
I too like the idea of of a small generator like Dave mentions.

Thanks for your reply.

It is air over hydraulic.  Disk Brakes. With ABS.  I believe the parking brake is drum (that is what I remember a technician telling me).
I am not doing the work myself but the shop is having trouble figuring out the right parts.
