Title: Bay lights
Post by: Gary Merrifield on June 18, 2018, 06:28:25 PM
None of my Vay lights will come on, where do I star or is the something else to turn on beside the switch?

Gary, there is usually a master, bay light switch, in the switch cluster around the drivers cockpit area. If that switch is on, and they still don't work, I would check in the lower left outside electric compartment for a faulty relay. Are you sure the bulbs are good? Hope this helps.

On our coach, there is a master bay light toggle switch on the right side of the driver's dashboard that must be ON for any basement light to be able to be on, plus each light in the basement has its own individual ON-OFF switch.  Thus, for a basement light to work, the master be ON and that individual light must be switched on.

On our ‘06, the master switch mentioned is in the module along the entry step wall.  In another recent thread here I also noted that our CB9 circuit breaker in the electrical bay (streetside forwardmost bay) was for both the bay lights and the 12v power outlet on the wall to the right of the driver’s right foot.

Circuit breakers normally reset unless constantly overloaded, and the cigarette lighter likely has its own in-line fuse.  But remove any device plugged into the outlet that might be a culprit, and after a few minutes check if there is 12v on either side of the breaker.  It’s possible it’s a relay, but I’m not sure which one, and although unlikely to blow, there could also be a separate fuse in the bay light line.

If the easy-to-check breaker is fine, 12v on both sides of it, I reckon I’d remove the escutcheon and rocker switch from the dash or wall, wherever it is, and check it’s back for 12v supply and proper operation.  Switches do wear and fail, but any fuse may be in-line behind the switch for easy inspection.
