Neither of my dump valves will operate with the switch. Do I just replace the valves or can they be rebuilt? The gray water valve does not shut off completely

Gary, the dump valves seem to work better plugged in to shore power, or with motor running. The higher voltage makes them more "lively". If your batteries are marginal, 12.0-12.2 volts, they seem to really struggle to open and close. You may also have bad switches. Check to see if you have continuity thru the switches. If not, switch needs to be replaced. The one that is leaking needs to be replaced eventually. If it were me, I would replace both at the same time because of the difficulty to access them. Hope this helps.

I replaced both our electric dump valves in the last year or two. I was told by the nice lady at the manufacturer in Hollister, CA that their expected life is eight-ish years. Also, after you hear the valve stop opening or closing, immediately release the toggle switch. Holding the toggle switch power on will quickly burn up the motor built into the drain valve.
When our black tank valve was on its last leg, it would open the valve about 1/3 and would close fine. I did not replace both valves at the same time. I wish I had because within a few months after replacing the black tank valve I was back into that bay to replace the gray tank valve.

The electric valves on our 02 did that especially when cold. There was a 1 inch vent hole with push in cover at the bottom of the wet bay switch pannel. If this were removed I could use a long flat tip screw driver and fit it in the slot thus operating the valve manualy. I did this on each valve and shortly cleaned the tanks with pinesol and calgon beads for lubing the valve doors. Never had to replace those valves.
