Title: Water heater circuit?

Really curious about this.... why do I have a water heater circuit when I have  hydro hot heating my water?

Fred, that is the breaker controlling the 120 V to the Aqua Hot electric heating element.

Paul, thanks for telling that. Should be labeled "Hydro Hot Heating Element" to save confusion because the element is not just for heating water but also for heating the coach.

There are far more Aqua-Hot experienced folks that will chime in if I state something incorrectly.

I do not think the furnace heating segment of the Aqua-Hot runs off 120V.  I believe it is all 12V and diesel.  I recently read that this allows you to have comfort heating where you want it while you drive without the generator running.

Your Aqua Hot is totally separate from the heating element. The Aqua Hot does not need 120V to run. The start-up is from the 12V system, and all of the pumps, mixers, etc. run off of 12V. So, you can park in the middle of WalMart, or Bureau of Land Management and use the Aqua Hot for heating and for hot water, without shore power or running the generator.  The electric element is just a supplemental system so when you are plugged in to shore power, or running the generator (they both create 120V) you can heat water overnight without bothering your neighbors in the campground with the diesel exhaust. In our coach, it's good for whichever one of us takes a shower first. We have to turn the diesel burner on because sooner or later it will engage during the second shower.

My AquaHot gets its heat from three sources: 1> Its diesel burner, a 12v system;  2> Its electric element, a 110v system not using inverted power, with an ON/OFF switch in the 110v power panel labeled "Hydronic Heater;"  3> The Cat C-12 engine, a 12v system, circulates hot coolant through the AquaHot.  We generally use both the diesel burner and electric element concurrently when having access to 120v power - generator or shore power.  Without 120v power we use only the diesel burner.   The Cat C-12 engine, when we are traveling, circulates hot coolant through the AquaHot and dash heat/window-defrost system.  Thus, when traveling, the Cat C-12 engine, through the AquaHot, will provide heat for all the interior furnaces and for hot water at the sinks and shower, too.

My AquaHot delivers heat to three systems:  1> Hot water to the sinks and shower, pressured by the 12v water pump;  2> Hot coolant to the interior furnace heating system, using 12v zone pumps and 12v fans;  3> Hot coolant to preheat the Cat C-12 engine, using a 12v pump.
