Title: Cat 3126B Fan Drive Lube
Post by: Jack W Hannah on February 09, 2024, 05:11:23 PM
Recently a diesel mechanic indicated  that my Caterpillar 3126 B in my 2002 Patriot is not equipped with a lubrication fitting for the fan drive bearing and it would be necessary to remove the radiator if it had one. My Caterpillar manual indicates that this is a routine maintenance item. Are these 3126 B engines in Beavers typically equipped with this lubrication point?

TIA

Jack,
If I remember correctly, my 3126B had a grease zerk behind the fan itself.

The grease zerk on my '98 3126 was hard to get to and hard to even see.  I had to crawl back thru the closet on top of the engine and look straight down with a flashlight on top of the fan bearing.  If someone had not told me it absolutely was there, I would not have gone looking for it and found it.  That was in 2008 and I suspected it had never been greased.  Good luck with your search.
