Motorhomes and Tow Cars / Re: Beaver For Sale
« Last post by Tom Webber on December 08, 2024, 03:59:43 AM »
I know there are few Beaver owners east of the Mississippi so I would like to lower the price on the Beaver I have for sale. The new price is $43,500.00. My wife and I are leaving the RV world and like the Beaver to be sold by 3/1/25.

Technical Support / Cat C-12 serpentine belt tension indicator
« Last post by Fred Brooks on December 08, 2024, 12:43:10 AM »
  Gentlemen,
I recently had an issue with my Caterpillar C-12 engine. One of my serpentine belt idler pulleys locked up and destroyed the serpentine belt. I ordered replacement bearings for the idler pulley and fortunately I had the original belt as a spare. You are not going to find a 115.3" 8 groove belt at Auto zone. My point is this: How do you know if you have the correct length belt on your C-12? After cleaning the spring-loaded belt tensioner, I discovered the "indicator decal" that tells you if the tensioner is in the green zone or the red zone. As these coaches age, we do not know if previous owners have replaced the belt with the OEM correct length. I thought I would share this because it really sucks being broke down in the middle of nowhere. Merry Christmas! Fred

I appreciate the rubber seal and the fit and finish of the doors; however, they seem to take that extra effort to open and close. I was expecting the effort needed to open and close to increase over time since I put the tape on, but it hasn't so far.

Several of these latches have broken over the years, usually when I slam the door.  I have learned to lower the doors slowly to the point of latching, then pull on the handle to partially release the latches while pushing on the bottom of the door, left and right, with my lower leg until I hear the latches snap into place.  This door closing technique is where the term "Beaver knee" came from.  When I broke the first latch, I ordered five replacements because this would obviously be a recurring problem.  A smear of lube on the latches helps too.

General Discussion / Re: Towing a 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid

Richard et al,
We completed a trip from south Texas to Indiana and back with our 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid.  We had the Blue Ox face plate installed which worked well with our Blue Ox tow bar from our previous toad.  We had the Stay-in-play installed as well.  We had no issues whatsoever with the Maverick.  After a few groans with how many steps were involved in getting to "neutral tow" mode, we learned what to do and how to do it and it seems painless now.  I was so impressed with the Maverick, that I let my sister (who is looking for a toad) know how happy we were with it.  They did some research and ordered one from the factory.  With the 2025 Maverick, the hybrid is all-wheel-drive and can still be flat towed.  I don't know if waiting for the 2025 with all-wheel-drive would have been worth it for us but we're very happy with "Rick."

Funny story, I picked my coach up in Bend late winter this year. On the very first day of owning it, I pulled the wet bay handle too hard and broke the handle. I had no tools with me, but fortunately one side was unlatched and we were still in Bend to visit BCS. I honestly thought the handle was plastic the way it broke, but it was metal just like the new one from BCS. Come to find out through a little research is that this is a common issue.

My fix is a little tape on the inside of the latch (that keeps the door closed not the handle) to reduce the friction of the plastic piece to the metal housing that encloses it. I've updated all the latches and a tiny bit of lube and the doors open and close wonderfully. I

So if we are in the same area, come get some tape and I'll show you how it works. I have plenty of tape and there is no sense just charging a few dollars for it.

I'm Wintering in Southern California and then heading to the Sierras in the spring time. (One trip to Cottonwood/Sedona Jan-Feb '25)

Here's a pic of the latch this tape will help with.

Misc RV Equipment for Sale or Wanted / New, Never Used Waste Master Hose
« Last post by Zeb Severson on December 05, 2024, 10:46:54 PM »
I have a second, but unused Waste Master hose for sale. It is just missing the coupler to the coach. With how low our coaches are, this hose has been a dream more than once. There was a guy leaving the park the other day with the regular hose people use and he realized after opening his valves that the sewer line had an issue and wasn't draining at all. It was early, before the ranger or any employees were working. He sorted the issue out, but having the valve at the end of the hose could have saved him a huge mess.

I'd like to get $80 for it, but I'd do $75 for a Beaver member.

I'm located at

If you have a front mounting generator that slides out and like to do maintenance and repairs yourself your can rent/borrow my frame to extend the generator nearly the whole way out. I made this out of necessity when I had a bad control board and was shocked how tight the opening is for beavers. I'm more than happy to loan the frame out for a certain period of time if we are in the same location or it can be rented for extended period of time. It also helps if you are removing or installing the generator also. Currently I am in traveling in the Southern Ca, and Az region. I'm in the process of writing up how to make the frame.

If you are interested we can discuss if my frame will fit your coach and coordinate time and location.
