For the first time today, I decided to check the level of the fluid in my 3060 trans using the shift pad instaed of the dipstick, or so I thought.
Per the instructions, with the coach nearly level, warmed up (driven at least 20 miles) and engine at idle, I pressed the "up" and "down" arrows simulataneously. The display immediately went to the diagnostic readout (d-1 through d-5).
Any idea what I did or did not do to cause this? And how do I access the level sensor?
BTW, no codes came up.

Sounds like your tranny doesn't have a level sensor installed. Per my 3600 manual, the level display will come up with one press of the up-down buttons if a level sensor is present. Then you press them a second time to get to the diagnostic codes. If you don't have a level sensor, the diagnostic codes come up on the first push. Is it possible you pressed them twice?

It looks like I don't have a level indicator. I'm sure I pressed only once and immediately got the fault code indicators. RATS!!
I guess I'll have to it the old fashioned way.

our '98 is similar to yours and has the sensor. The manual says push both arrows and wait about two minutes for the countdown to finish and the level will be displayed. If your manual is the same then it might not hurt to have a rep check the shifter pad to be sure.
'Pacific Torque' is by Seatac airport. 1-800-726-5300 Shawn in prts and Jason in service. They answered my questions on the phone and I am going there Thursday to pick up Transynd and filters.
