Title: Heater in Water Service Bay
Post by: John Padmore on July 25, 2013, 06:40:25 PM
When I had the water service bay apart to fix my sewer connection that I had ripped off, I noticed what looked like a heater in there with what looked like a thermostat. Is there a switch for this to come on or is it automatic. I couldn't get a picture of it with all of the stuff in there.....thanks.

Yep, I have one also.  It's the bay heater for the Hurricane and it's automatic if the switch is on.  I believe the thermostat is set for around 45 degrees or so.

Thanks Dick, good to know. By the switch on I will assume you mean the Aqua Hot/Hurricane water heater switch. Just want to make sure there is not a hidden switch somewhere.....thanks. :)

The bay heater doesn't depend on human memory to turn it on in potentially freezing weather.  As Dick mentions, at about 45 degrees the thermosensor in the bay kicks on that fluid pump and heater unit;  but of course it all depends on the hydronic unit (AquaHot, HydroHot, or Hurricane) being on and operational in the first place.

Joel is right,
The Thermostat will close at about 45deg and prevent freezing temperature in the water bay -------- If the Heater Aqua-Hot/ Hurricane or whatever is used is operational
There is no adjustment on this particular T stat.  8)
