Title: Towing Toyota 6 speed manual  4 down.
Post by: Jerry Edgmon on February 17, 2014, 09:27:17 PM
Traded off my jeep wrangler for a 2008 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 with a 6 speed manual transmission and electronic four wheel drive shift. It was suppose to be 4 down towable. Now I find that it may not be. Everyone has a different fix. ie Drive line disconnect, Lube pump and not at all. Has anyone had experience with this same vehicle? Thanks Jerry Edgmon 98 Patriot

Jerry,
Owner's manual indicates it can be towed wheels down with tranny in neutral and transfer case in H2 if a dolly is not available. Doesn't say anything about speed or mileage limitations.

See "In case of Emergency" section in manual.  I suspect the electronic transfer case is the possible issue as it has no neutral.

I just talked to a guy who had a Tacoma who had a guy in Portland, O who put in a disconnect for $1000.00. It was raining and he was disinterested in talking to me about it....

I found this also since I am interested in towing a Tacoma - Southwest Drivelines (http://www.swdriveline.com) or David at Drive Shaft King (800-442-6329
