Hello, we are updating our 1998 Contessa and wish to change the color of the original inside wall coverings. We are going to try some paint but wonder about the surface preparation of the wallpaper. It appears to be a washable vinyl wallpaper. Has anyone tried painting the wall coverings of this age of Beaver? What kind of preparation did you do and what paint did you use?
Thanks!

Grant,
My brother-in-law tried painting wall paper to "update" my mother-in-law's Olympia house prior to listing it. It stayed for sale for months until the now painted wall paper was removed and the walls repainted again.

Bill,
We have removed the booth dinette and jack knife sofa. Before putting in a workstation/table combo and a new sofa we wanted to "cleanup" the upper walls. Removing the existing wall covering looks to be difficult without removing the overhead cabinets (which I don't want to attempt). Thus, the thought of paint. I assume others with old coaches have had similar thoughts?
Thanks,
Grant

Grant,
Instead of paint, have you considered new wall covering glued on to the old?
