Title: What is this Access Door for?
Post by: Les Brandt on July 06, 2014, 04:28:37 PM
What is this door for. It's outside the bathroom on my 2001 Beaver Patriot Monticello. I don't have a key for it. Is it a standard key with Beavers and would anyone have a number for the key I can order? I hate to go to a locksmith if I don't have to. I may not even need to get in there.

I have one like it that is a tight access to the shower drain plumbing fittings. Look at what aligns with it on the inside of the coach, it is a small access door for some feature of the coach that you cannot get to any other way.

That's what I thought it would be, but the tub drain is about 3.5' over from the wall.

I don't know any plumbers with arms that long! LOL

On our 1998 it is directly under the tub faucet and provides access to the faucet for repairs.

I looked in there 12 years ago.  No need to get in there since.

The door in your picture is identical to the door that allows access to my 50 amp power cord, except that my door is found above and to the back of the side radiator - that's about chest high on the street side and very near the rear corner of the coach, just a foot or so forward from the left rear tail light.  The key is silver and  says "ChicagoLock," "Made in USA," and has the number "1101X" on it.

That's the same key on my 2000 PT

Les,
You will probably never need to open that access door, but it is a standard key, and there will be several owners who can let you copy theirs at the next rally. I have supplied the key to that door to several owners over the years. There is also a good possibility that BCS (Beaver Coach Sales) can supply you with a key.

If someone wants to make me a key and send it, I'll pay in advance and we can exchange addresses.

Les,
I will be traveling across the country this week, but if you still need one next week, call or email me and I will see what I can do about getting a key to you.

Is this the shape of the cut on your key?

Yes.  Those keys appear to be the same as mine in all aspects except color.  Soooo... you have keys and, therefore, do not need a key made and mailed to you?

No sorry, I found a picture of these on eBay. I wanted to confirm this was the configuration.

I could still use someone to send me one.

Had there been cash inside the door, then my help would have been expensive.  hahaha   I am glad the key worked.  Perhaps you can stash some cash behind the door for the next owner????
