Title: Girard Wind Sensor Cup Broken

Somehow a cup on my Girard Awning Wind Sensor broke off.

Anyone got an idea on a replacement/repair? Can't glue it. It's gone.

Les,

You will need to call Girard to find out which style of wind sensor you have on your MH.  They have three different kind that I know.  If your is the original it can be replace with a whole new sensor that has removable/replaceable cups.  It will be more costly to replace with a new one, but cheaper down the road.

If memory serves me right I seem to recall that one of the cups on mine was replaced by the PO with what appears to be a portion of a plastic spoon. It very closely resembles the other two cups. I believe it is pop riveted and glued in place. It has served it's purpose for the past two years.

 Davis Weather Station wind speed cup part # WO-30003-56 will work they cost $10.00 plus shipping. You will need to drill the hole out slightly to make it fit. Here is the link.

Les, That one will work. The color on that one looks different. I always get a plain black one.

Steve, how did you remove the broken sensor cups? I just ordered that replacement for mine.

Steve, I have ordered the copper colored one as I think it goes better with my coach color scheme.

Question though, how about removal of existing? Procedure?

Les---I do not have a Girard wind sensor but knowing what others have done to help solve the broken cups on those sensors might help others here also.  Some owners have gone to Home Depot and bought one of those little wire cages one would use plant flowers.  Probably a six inch wire cage would work just fine by gluing the cage to the roof with a glue.  This have helped protect the wind sensor from being hit by low hanging branches, etc.  Hope this help.

Mandy, I did that 6 years ago, and low hanging branches do not bother me anymore.   Henry

To remove most have a small Allen set screw. Loosen screw and gently up as close to shaft a possible. I carry an extra one just in case.
