Title: No interior AC power
Post by: Mary Collins on September 29, 2014, 04:16:11 AM
We are getting no ac power at the microwave and other ac outlets inside coach on either generator or shore power.   Have checked ac circuit breakers in both main and sub panels. GFIs will not reset as they have no power. Inverter panel indicates we have a fault. Any suggestions on where to start?

Two things come to mind - 1) the coach power toggle on your right hand wall above the entry steps is off, and more likely 2) your inverter needs to be "re-booted."  At your inverter's remote panel, turn the inverter control to the off position for a few seconds, then turn it back on.

Others here will have more and likely better ideas.  Keep watching.

Mary,
Assuming that you still have the original ProSine inverter, to reset the inverter, you unplug shore power, and disconnect the negative cable to the house batteries for at least 30 seconds. Then reconnect the battery cable, and reconnect the shore power. This should erase the inverter faults and reset it.

Gerald, Mary, Mike,

We have reset our Prosine by just cutting AC power to it and turning off the House battery switch for 15 seconds or so. It is easier and the same electrically as lifting the negative cable if your coach is wired the same as ours. If that does not work then lift the cable. I think a GFI outlet will reset without power given it is a mechanical reset. Have you checked the GFI in the basement? If you have one that will not reset, sometimes they are just totally shot and the reset part will no longer function. Leviton makes a moisture environment version available at Home Depot which I would use exclusively in this application. If you have no AC into the sub panel breaker box in the basement then you need to go back to the transfer switch and check there. If power is coming out of there but not into the breaker sub panel then look at the transfer switch within the Prosine as the issue. Because neither the generator nor the Power post feed will supply AC to the coach your issue is not in the main cord that feeds the coach or the main breaker panel. Hope this helps.

Thank you Gerald and Ed. Problem solved, but I found a broken battery cable. Something to fix today.
