Title: Lights flicker When Using Generator
Post by: steve zannella on February 22, 2015, 04:56:29 PM
Has anyone experienced 120 volt light flickering when using the generator 12 volt lights do not flicker. Also, my 120 volt lights don't flicker when using shore power.

Steve,

I get a little flicker (some varying brightness) on the 120V lights that are on dimmers especially. The panel holds 119 to 120V with light to moderate loads so I think the dimmers do not love the generator waveforms. They usually work by wave chopping. You can plug in a lamp with no dimmer and see if that is fine, if so it is the dimmer and not anything to worry about.

Thanks Ed
I'll give that a try maybe it will save me from chasing ghosts in my generator.
