Title: Rear Bedroom Slide Hangs Up
Post by: Richard Efland on December 15, 2010, 02:25:50 PM
We have a 2004 (late year) Marquis with 4 slides.  We've had the bedside slide fixed so far and now the opposite side rear slide is hanging up when operating the slide.  The motor which sounds like it is on the rear side of the slide seems to bind and the slide hangs in the front side so the slide is attempting to open at an angle.  If provided some foot pressure at the floor level, it will open.  Clearly not right, have never had problems with it before.  Is this an adjustment problem or is there a sissor link problem.  How does one get to the mechanism to adjust it?

Our 05 monterey had almost the same issue. Took off all trim to expose the scissor mechanism. Found all screws in the upper left and right corners loose. All weight of the slide is supported on those corners.  Some were stripped and I replaced with bolts and self-locking nuts. Still wouldn't work perfect. It kept dropping at the final in and out positions so I installed two rollers to support the weight. Did all this while in Quartzite at the Beaver Rally last January (2010). Not a problem since. Also you need to fix it NOW as it has the potential of binding and then bending the scissor mechanism.
