Title: LED lights from amazon for halogen pucks
Post by: Dwight Lakusta on February 24, 2019, 07:44:06 PM
I ordered a pack of these lights for a trial run to see how they work!  Price seemed right, and they have 5W more light!...

I will everyone know how they work. They are a few mm longer, hopefully they will still squeeze in.

Just an update, these lights are the same color and brightness as the 10 watt halogen! and they fit in the housing! I ordered the 25 watt ones to see the difference! I’ll let you all know soon as I get them!

I hope those lights work out for you.

I had a hard time getting decent LEDs from Amazon - you cant tell the build quality from the description pf the item. I got two different brands and found that some of them would flicker. I was told the cheaper lights don't have the "quality circuitry" in them to handle the wide range of voltage found in RV (12.5 - 14.5). Then I bought a set of the more expensive lights from Amazon (still half the price of the M4 brand), and had the same problem.
So I bit the bullet and got the ones everyone was raving about from M4 products. The highers quality is very apparent. So far no flickering. I believe you get wast you pay for.

These are "cheaper quality" ones I tried first (the one on the far right sure looks like some circuitry is missing). This is M4 product page  http://www.m4products.com/g4-18-5630-side-cw-cool-white-elite-series-g4-t3-samsung-5630-leds-side-pins-to-replace-20w-halogen/

Hi I have found 3 that work quite nicely.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0787Y3XGV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DQFKVYS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0787YFJPJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are of a "bulb" type not a "disk" type and work quite nicely. I tried all 3 as an experiment for output and flickering as all seem to do quite well. They also work with the Intellitec dimmer controls in that they do not reduce voltage to the bulbs just switch them off and on rapidly to produce the dimming effect. I don't know how they would preform with other dimming systems.

They range from $1.33 to $2 per bulb the $2 variety is a 2.5watt and I used them where I wanted a little more brightness.

For the bulk of the puck lights I used:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DQFKVYS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 basically because they worked well and were cheapest ( lots of puck lights!)
