For anyone considering a residential refrigerator or just wanting a bit more staying power when dry camping, here is a link to a Newmar forum where a fellow modified his Mountain Aire battery tray to accomodate two extra house batteries:

Unfortunately you may have to register with Yahoo Forums first in order to view the photos and accompanying notes he posted, but if you're interested in electrical ideas, it's certainly worth it. I figured Ed and Gerald especially would find the engineering intriguing. I'm a member of two Newmar Forums only because for a couple of years, after much research, I was absolutely positive someday I'd buy a Mountain Aire or Dutch Star.
Then in 2006 my heart was unceremoniously stolen by a shameless Beaver. :P

Did mine before going to Alaska (Glaciers and Grizzlies) last year. Did not have to modify the tray but did have to build a tray for the chassis batteries. Well worth it and we don't have a residential refrig.
